Summer Term - week 3
I hope you and your families are all well. It looks as though Year 5 are unlikely to return to school soon, so it’s even more important to keep listening to music and playing as much as possible and I hope these emails give you a few ideas. We know that music is really good for lifting the spirits (read more here) so please do send me pictures or videos of the children playing their instruments! Everyone who sends something will have their name put in a draw for a £10 Amazon voucher!
Today I have some listening treats, an activity to join in with, and a challenge!
This week I have something a bit different to watch – the inspirational young cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, talking on The One Show about the importance of his parents’ influence on his musical journey. This is a tribute for all you parents and carers who are supporting your children in their musical life!
And do tune in to Cabin Fever later today: Every Monday at 8pm our Director of Music Will Bersey will be playing jazz with his son Henry on saxophone. They are streaming live on YouTube from 8pm: https://youtu.be/h4Kch7f2TH8
If you have some favourite pieces of music, please let me know and I will share them with everybody.
CHALLENGE: WIN A MUSICAL PRIZE!
OK, this week there’s a prize available for the family who can correctly name the 5 musical instruments in all these close-up photos – email me your answers in the right order before Friday and I’ll draw a correct answer for a fun musical prize for all the family.
Our friends at the Langton Music Centre have been entertaining families in Canterbury live every morning at 09.00 with “Wake and Shake”. Lucy leads us in sing-songs, quizzes and much more, so why not tune in at 09.00 (or later) with the whole family and join in?
Have a good week, and best wishes,
